Ulfa's pro-talks leader Prabal Neog, four others injured

Ulfa's pro-talk leader Prabal Neog and four others were critically injured this morning in a road mishap in Assam's Nagaon district, police said.

Neog, along with two other pro-talk ULFA members, his bodyguard and driver, was on his way to Guwahati from Tinsukia, when the vehicle in which he was travelling collided head-on with a speeding truck at Rangagora.
   
The vehicle was severely damaged and the five persons, including Neog, were critically injured and were rushed to the Nagaon Civil Hospital, police said.

Neog, his bodyguard Dipen Hazarika and driver Hemanta Gogoi were later shifted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital.

The condition of two other ULFA leaders Pranab Hazarika and Harish Chetia was also serious, they said.
   
The driver of the truck was absconding and a search operation has been launched to nab him.
   
Neog, alias Benudhar Bora, the ex-commander of the 28th battalion of the banned ULFA, was released from the Dibrugarh Central Jail in July 2008.
