Two insurgents of banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Thoubal district of Manipur, official sources said.
Personnel belonging to 21st Para rushed to interior Tolen area at around 4.30 am following reports of movement of insurgents.
During the search operation, the insurgents fired at the army personnel and in the ensuing encounter that lasted more than three hours, two PLA insurgents were killed, the sources said.
The security forces recovered two AK series rifles, one lelthod gun, one pistol and some other weapons, the sources said.
The bodies have been sent to Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital here for post mortem.
About 35 persons including today's two insurgents have so far been killed in different militancy-related incidents in Manipur this year.
