After detaining four suspects in connection with Tuesday's ATM robbery in Maninagar, local police on Thursday have identified one Hardik Jingar and Kamlesh Patel as masterminds behind the crime, said sources in the police department.

Cops have also formed three teams to look for clues in the case in Gujarat and neighbouring states. They suspect involvement of an inter-state gang in the matter. The teams are headed by senior police inspector DM Chauhan, PI RK Jhala, and the D-staff (a team at every police station that detects crime).

According to sources in police, Jingar is a resident of Mona Park Society in Memnagar and owns a call centre in Satellite area of the city. Patel, who lives in Thakor ni Chali in Maninagar, works at this call centre. There are 11 employees besides Patel at the call centre and their possible involvement is also being probed.

Most of the investigations conducted by Maninagar police in the matter are based on Jingar's call details. Cops are interrogating his girlfriend who received the last call from his phone on Wednesday.

The girl revealed that Jingar, in his last conversation with her, said that he was in trouble and was 'leaving' now. He said he would call her once he was back. Friends of the two suspects are also being interrogated, based on call details acquired.

"The call details have also revealed that Hardik (Jingar) and Kamlesh (Patel) hail from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh but are currently settled in Ahmedabad," said DM Chauhan, senior PI with Maninagar police. "However, all information will be retrieved only after their arrest," he added.

Meanwhile, SM Chaudhary, PI with Special Operations Group (SOG), is confident of tracking down the criminals. His team played a crucial role in recovery of the ATM from Maniyasa Society, Maninagar, on Wednesday. "We have done our duty and are confident of nabbing the thieves at the earliest," said Chaudhary.
