Truck burnt in West Midnapore

A pickup truck loaded with paddy was torched by Peoples Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) supporters, prior to tomorrow's 72-hour bandh called by Maoists in five states, including West Bengal.

A pickup truck loaded with paddy was torched by Peoples Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) supporters near here today prior to tomorrow's 72-hour bandh called by Maoists in five states, including West Bengal.

The truck was burnt at a place near Binpur, about 2.2 km from here, police sources said. 

A large number of anti-Maoist posters also appeared at this subdivisional town demanding that the ultras immediately stop killing people and that they must pay compensation for foodgrains looted by them.

The joint forces were on alert on all entrances to the town, the sources added.
