Three quarantined for suspected swine flu symptoms in Chennai

The two men who hail from Tuticorin and Thanjavur, were quarantined at the Communicable Diseases Hospital (CDH) at Tondiarpet near here, officials said.

Three persons, who arrived here from Singapore today, were quarantined for suspected swine flu symptoms.

According to airport officials, two men, aged 40 and 42, who arrived this morning, were found with symptoms of H1N1 virus.

The two, who hail from Tuticorin and Thanjavur, were quarantined at the Communicable Diseases Hospital (CDH) at Tondiarpet near here, officials said.

Another 38-year-old man and native of Chennai, who arrived from Singapore in another flight this morning, was also referred to the CDH with swine flu symptoms.

"It was decided during a meeting with health ministry officials that two experts (doctors) from each laboratory who are engaged in conducting different tests will undergo an orientation programme before starting actual work on swine flu samples," Vinay Batra, Global Director, Sales and Marketing, Super Religare Laboratories said.

"In this orientation programme their technical staff will tell us their experience and explain certain do's and don'ts while conducting the test. They will tell us the guidelines to be followed while conducting the tests, how to handle the transportation of samples, how to wear the mask, the goggles the cap and other logistics relating to this," he said.
