Mutilated bodies of a young couple and another woman were found lying on the railway tracks today in Balasore district, police said.
The deceased, identified as Sasikanta Behera, 30, his wife Shantilata Behera, 26 and another married woman Mamina Parida, 25, belong to Mahamadpur village under Simulia police station area.
The bodies were spotted by locals near Markona station, about 50km from Balasore, inspector of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Balasore, Krupa Sindhu Biswal said.
Though a preliminary investigation has suggested that it could be a case of suicide, a thorough investigation is in progress to ascertain the facts, he said.
A motor-cycle was also found near the railway track and police is probing the incident from all angles, he added.
