A daily wager from Ahmedabad stole 14 Dairy Milk Silk chocolates from a mall to treat guests. He was later nabbed by police.
A daily wager’s wish to treat his guests to some sweets left a bitter taste in his mouth instead. He desired to please his guests, but the method he chose did not work out right for him. Brijesh Sharma, 38, had guests at home with some sweets. However, he couldn’t afford the sweets so he thought of stealing them from a mall. Unfortunately, his plans went awry after he was caught by the security guard of the mall.
On Saturday afternoon, Vastrapur police arrested Sharma for stealing 14 Dairy Milk Silk chocolates, each priced Rs120, from a store inside AlphaOne mall near Vastrapur Lake.
Upon investigation, cops learnt that Sharma works as a casual labourer at Reliance Company’s plant in Naroda GIDC. He lives with his family in a rented house in the same area. His was a love marriage with a Patel woman. Sharma was expecting some of his wife’s relatives along with their children at home on Sunday.
In a bid to play the perfect host, Sharma thought of offering the kids some sweets or chocolates but, he knew that with his limited income he would not be able to do so. So he decided to steal them.
On Saturday, he managed to get entry into the AlphaOne mall at 11am and went inside a store. There he stole 14 Dairy Milk Silk chocolates, totally worth Rs1,680 and hid all the chocolates in his pocket.
While Sharma was trying to leave through the exit gate, the security guard asked for the bill of the chocolates which he saw Sharma carrying. Scared of being exposed, he ran towards the main gate.
The guard chased him, while calling for help. As Sharma reached the main gate near the road, Sureshbhai, an LRD jawan of Vastrapur, nabbed him. He then took Sharma to the police station where the cops arrested him and registered a case of theft against him.
