Still no sign of Meerut corporator's abducted wife: Police

Six days after the doctor wife of a municipal councillor of Meerut was abducted, police have not been able to trace her.

BJP councillor Brijesh Tyagi's wife Suman was allegedly abducted near Machhra village on June 27, while she was on her way to her clinic in Kithaur town.

"We have taken some persons into custody and are interrogating them. But nothing concrete has come out of it so far," DIG Prem Prakash said.

Police have announced a reward of Rs10,000, he said, adding that the victim's relatives have also promised Rs5 lakh to any person who comes forward with information related to the case.

Kithaur station house officer Paniram Revala was suspended today due to dereliction of duty, DIG said.

Tyagi has written a letter to chief minister Mayawati demanding immediate resolution of the case. BJP workers threatened to start an agitation if the case was not solved soon.
