They aspired to become film stars.

So these two teenagers from the city ran away to Mumbai on February 22 -- and returned on Saturday morning, their Bollywood dreams shattered.

Parthik Patel and Rohan Patel, both aged 14, are studying in class 9 of Mangaldeep school in Nava Vadaj. They went missing on Thursday, when they did not reach their homes after school hours.

Rohan Patel’s elder sister Chitra had filed a missing persons complaint at Ranip police station. Interestingly, Rohan had run away from home before, with his friend Vilas four months ago. The two went to Mumbai to ‘explore the city’.

Parthik Patel’s missing complaint was lodged by his father Mukesh Patel at Naranpura police station. On the day of their disappearance, both students attended classes till recess and then Rohan and Parthik went to Rohan’s home to change his uniform. No one was at home as Rohan’s father Anil was at his place of work and his mother Manisha was in the UK. Chitra was in her college in Gandhinagar.

The teenagers had gone to Mumbai because they wanted to become movie heroes. They wanted to join an acting school in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri, in Mumbai. They reached the place and made enquiries about the fees for the training course that they believed would make them film stars. The teenagers were stunned to learn that the fee was Rs. 75,000!

Rohan Patel had stolen a mobile from his home and sold it for Rs.1000. They used this money to go to the Bollywood capital. But when their cash got over, they returned to Ahmedabad early Saturday morning. Parthik Patel went home directly after reaching Ahmedabad while Rohan Patel remained at the railway station. Mukesh Patel later informed Chitra and Naranpura police station.

Naranpura police got Rohan Patel back from the railway station and fetched Parthik Patel from his home, and brought them to Naranpura police station. During interrogation, both confessed that they went to Mumbai with the intention of becoming film heroes. PI HB Jamod of Naranpura police station said, “Both saw an advertisement in the newspaper about an acting school and left for Mumbai to join it.”

Meanwhile, the children’s parents were overjoyed that their kids were back home safe and sound and their traumatic days of fear and tears were finally over.
