There could be more trouble in store for arrested IPS officer Abhay Chudasama as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to interrogate a few investigating officers of the CID (Crime), who were part of the investigating team of the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.

According to sources, the CBI is likely to investigate RH Hadia, GB Pandoriya and another officer who are alleged to have misplaced vital documents of the investigation. The three officers have mislaid the testimonies of two informers of Chudasama --  Mahendra Singh Jhala and Nooruddin Gogani -- which they had compiled before the executive magistrate.

Sources said that after the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter in November 2005, his body was brought for post mortem to Civil Hospital and during the PM, the then DySP, ML Parmar, had washed Sohrabuddin's body, a fact that was disclosed before the executive magistrate in 2007 after the CID was handed over the investigation.

Moreover, the investigating officer in the case, TK Patel, had also taken the statements of Jhala and Gogani which he later submitted to three other investigating officers, RH Hadia, GB Padoriya and another official. However, in the course of time, these statements were found missing from the three officers.
Sources further said that the statements of Jhala and Gogani were misplaced on the instructions of some senior officers of CID. The matter assumes importance as last week the CBI had summoned four serving and two former IPS officers of the Gujarat cadre to record their statements with regard to the case. Those summoned to depose were Geeta Johri, GC Raigar, OP Mathur, VV Rabari, Girish Singhal and Rajnish Rai. They have been asked to present themselves before the CBI investigators between May 3 and May 7.
Geeta Johri was the supervising officer of the SC-directed preliminary inquiry into a habeas corpus petition filed by Sohrabuddin's brother on his missing sister-in-law Kauser bi, being conducted by CID.
