The special magistrate AY Dave on Tuesday allowed Dr NK Amin, an accused cop in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, to undergo physiotherapy at a local private hospital in Vadodara. He will also get police security during his treatment which will last for a month.

While talking to DNA, Jagdish Ramani, advocate for Amin said that he was suffering from severe back pain due to spine compression. “As a result the doctor had after some test advised him to go for physiotherapy treatment for a month. Later the doctors will decide the further course of action depending on his recovery,” said Ramani.

Earlier the special judge had allowed Amin to visit Shalby Hospital and Swami Hospital for consultation in connection with his backache. Amin had moved an application with the magistrate court stating that he needed to be treated at a private hospital for his back treatment.

However, the CBI had objected to the same. The CBI had while objecting to the application argued that it is the responsibility of the jail authorities to provide for such treatment and if they are not able to do so they should refer the accused to a government hospital.

cIn this case the jail authorities did not give any such reference. Hence, the application should be rejected, the CBI had argued.
