Shortage of ballot papers in Kanbha made more than 245 voters of four wards, out of the total 2,929 voters, wait for at least two hours to cast their votes.

However, the administration worked swiftly to rectify the error and supplied the papers, though it hardly saved the brickbats from local political leaders. Sources in administration point the lapse to erroneous communication.

"After the voters list was prepared and order for printing of ballot papers were given, we received a supplementary voters list. This list too was sent for printing, but the printed material couldn't be sent to the polling station on time. However as soon as the error surfaced, we immediately responded to the situation," said a district-level official.

Leaders were complaining that voting was affected for more than 1.5 hours. However, at the end of the polling time, Kanbha registered 86.13 % of voting.
