Sanjay Tandon, the son of a former Punjab minister, was today unanimously elected as chief of the Chandigarh unit of BJP.

Sanjay, the son of senior BJP leader Balramji Dass Tandon, was declared elected here by the party's National spokesman Rajiv Partap Rudy. He has been elected for the next three years, Rudy said.

Former Chandigarh BJP chief Yashpal Mahajan was elected unopposed as member of the party's National Council. Meanwhile, a section of BJP cadre expressed resentment over Sanjay's election.

Party leader Dharam Pal Gupta said the party workers were not taken into confidence before the election of the new chief.

"No nominations were sought and even delegates were not seen during the election process," Gupta alleged. Rudy, however, said the entire election process was "smooth" and ended amicably.
