Announcing to launch an agitation against Women Reservation Bill, Samajwadi Party today appealed to Muslims MPs in all the political parties to press for amendment in the measure, which it said was the conspiracy to keep the community away from politics.

"Poor women from amongst Dalits, backwards and Muslims will not get the benefit of this reservation. We appeal to all Muslim MPs to press for amendments in the bill," senior party leader and leader of opposition in the Legislative Council Ahmad Hasan told reporters here.

"Congress and BJP have cheated Muslims and it is a joint conspiracy to keep them away from the politics," he alleged.

Claiming that the reservation policy would only help women from affluent class, he announced that the party would launch an agitation on this issue.

"There are several states including Gujarat, MP, Haryana and Punjab from where not even a single Muslim candidate was elected to the Lok Sabha. Under such circumstances how a Muslim woman will get elected," he questioned.

He alleged that the Congress had made a mockery of recommendations of Sachar and Rangnath Mishra committees, which suggested reservation to Muslims on the basis of their population.

"Now it had been proved that these reports were merely an eyewash and the Muslims have been cheated upon," he said.
