Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday described as 'unnecessary' the reservations expressed by some people about his proposed visit to Mumbai.

"The April 15 programme in Mumbai (which he will attend) is not political at all. I am going there to attend a social and cultural programme," he told newsmen here apparently referring to Maharashtra Navanirman Sena voicing opposition against Kumar's visit to the city.

Kumar is scheduled to participate in a Bihar Divas Function in the western metropolis.

"I am unable to comprehend why there have been reservations to my visit to Mumbai I respect the soil of Maharashtra very much I will offer my salute to Maharashtra," Kumar said adding the state had produced several great leaders and personalities who had guided the nation.

People had migrated to Bihar because of some 'compulsions'. "But now the atmosphere and situation has changed in the state and the Biharis there (in Mumbai) are organising the show to mark Bihar centenary celebrations."

"People of Bihar and Maharashtra have strong bonds of relation. They cooperate each others and the Biharis respect people of Maharashtra," Kumar added.
