The World Heart Day saw a 'rally with a difference' being taken out in the city. As many as 600 citizens participated in the rally in order to create awareness regarding the heart, and other organs.

Organised by Shatayu and the Govind C Patel Foundation, the rally began at 8 am. Numerous groups of people were seen waiting to participate in the rally. Shatayu is a non-profit organization that deals in organ donation and creates awareness regarding the same.

The rally began from Rajpath Club, went to Ashram road, Usmanpura and CG road, and came back to the Club. "In India, there is a tremendous need to create awareness regarding organ donation. People need to understand that a small gesture on their part has the potential to change several lives. Only 425 people, out of the millions that inhabit India, turn up for organ donation every year. We want to help increase the numbers," said Jitendra Dodiya, a participant in the rally and a member of Gunrider Motorcycle Club in the city.

The chief guests at the event were Parimal Trivedi, vice-chancellor of Gujarat University (GU), HL Trivedi, renowned doctor, Praful Dave, Gujarati singer, and others. Heart-warmingly, after the rally, many participants also registered themselves with Shatayu for organ donation
