Congress on Friday said the possibility of early Lok Sabha polls is as remote as that and told Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav that there was no point creating an air of uncertainity or instability where none exists.

"There is obviously no guarantee that the sky may not fall on our heads or that Yeddyurappa will stop demanding the Chief Minister's chair. But the possibility of mid-term polls is as remote as that," party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

Asked to comment on Yadav's statement in Lucknow earlier in the day that there is no guarantee when the Lok Sabha elections might take place, Singhvi said there is no point creating an air of uncertainity or instability where none exists.

SP had rescued the UPA-I government in Parliament during crucial vote of confidence in 2008 and also when opposition-sponsored amendments to the President's address to Parliament were rejected recently.
