Jaipur: Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board today served a show-cause notice to IOC here asking why a legal action should not be taken against it over the depot fire incident.

"A show cause notice under Environment Protection Act has been issued to the IOC Jaipur office seeking a reply within 15 days," official sources told PTI here. The devastating fire that broke out on October 29 at the IOC depot here had claimed 12 lives.

"IOC has not followed the provisions of EPA and not even sought any required permission of the state PCB for site plan approval. Hence, the company has been asked that why a legal action cannot be taken against it," they said. A case could be filed with the district court in the matter and the PCB would wait for a reply, they added.
