The Ahmedabad detection of crime branch (DCB) raided Skyway hotel near Science City in Sola on Sunday and busted a sex racket and arrested five people, including four pimps and a client. Six girls, including one from Uzbekistan, were rescued. However, the police had to do away with the recording of the Uzbek girl's statement due to the language barrier.

After a struggle of over 24 hours, police had to cancel the girl's statement as she couldn't understand English, while the police failed to understand her language.

The girl who only spoke a few words in English, barely managed to convey a bit about herself and her country of origin. On the other hand, the police could not get an Uzbek translator.

The cops thus registered the girl's name as a victim and let her go after primary investigation. The girl was brought to Ahmedabad by a group of pimps in the city and was told to spend a night in the Skyway Hotel. The police nabbed four pimps-Sushil Nai, Nayan Shah, Hitesh Prajapati, and Pravin Parmar-and one client, Krishna Chaudhary in connection with the racket.
The pimps used to give a package deal - a girl, along with a room -- to their clients. Besides the Uzbek girl, there were girls from different states of the country as well. "The girl was paid Rs1,000 for spending a night with the client, while Rs2,500 was taken by the pimps," investigating officer and police inspector, DCB, PG Vaghela told DNA.
Vaghela also said that the pimps would book the rooms in advance and give the address to the clients. The money was split among them once the deal was finalised, he said.
