One Rathyatra will be held in Anand today. The cops are well-equipped with many modern gadgets to handle the Rathyatras, with the help of 133 companies of paramilitary forces.
Talking to reporters, director general of police, SS Khandwawala told that the state police are equipped with all kind of modern technologies like GPS-enabled vehicles, CCTV cameras and videography, apart from round the clock patrolling and mass contact with the people, to peacefully conduct the festival.
The paramilitary forces include Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF). Apart from paramilitary forces, 103 companies of State Reserved Police (SRP) and nine companies of Madhya Pradesh State Reserved Police (MPSRP) will be deployed at various levels to safeguard Rathyatras in the city.
“100% of the police strength is in use for the Rathyatra bandobast and all the leaves have been cancelled,” Khandwawala told DNA. “Each district, which has Rathyatra procession will be allotted at least a company of police personnel,” he said. “Modern security systems will be put in place at Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and other places where the Rathyatra processions are big,” Khandwawala said.
Among the total of 133 companies, there are 10 companies of BSF, six companies of CRPF, four companies of RAF and five companies of MPSRP to be deployed in the state during Rathyatra. Most number of companies (75) will be deployed in Ahmedabad, followed by Vadodara and Surat (8 each) and Bhavnagar (5). Each company has around 80 personnel.
