People like Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray and head of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray should be put behind the bars for trying to break the unity of the country by fomenting regionalism, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) president Ram Vilas Paswan said today.

Paswan, a former union minister, also demanded that the two organisations be banned.

He claimed there was hardly any difference between the Thackerays and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar.

While the Thackerays were dividing the country on the basis of regionalism, Nitish kumar was out to divide the Dalit fraternity by creating a Mahadalit Commission, Paswan.

Paswan said the National Commission for Scheduled Castes too had condemned the state's NDA government headed by Kumar for setting up the Mahadalit Commission.

The LJP president charged the state government with misusing the funds meant for uplift of the dalits and wanted to know why the NDA government had not set up a commission for suggesting measures to improve the lot of backward castes and sweeper community in the state.

The days of the Nitish Kumar government were numbered as it could win only three out of 18 assembly seats, by-polls to which were held in August last year and it would be unseated in the assembly elections, Paswan said.
