Apparently concerned over reports that MLAs are staying away from his yatra, Congress MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy today said that people are his biggest support base rather than MLAs.

"I am being blessed like a brother and son. When I have so much love and affection, can anyone say that Jagan is alone? Do MLAs are the only source of support? When so much love is there, nobody can say that Jagan is alone or isolated. I say with pride that I am able to stand here with a smile, only because of your love and affection," he said.

Jagan was speaking at a village in Prakasam district on the third day of his 'Odarpu yatra'.

Except state mines minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, who is a close relative of the YSR family, and Darsi MLA D Sivaprasad Reddy, no other ruling party MLA has participated in the yatra in the last two days.

The absence of MLAs in Jagan's yatra is because the Congress high command had told the party legislators from Prakasam district last month not to participate in the yatra.

However, R Varaprasad, a Congress MLA from East Godavari district who participated in the yatra in the second phase of Jagan's tour, joined the Kadapa MP today.

Meanwhile, Srinivasa Reddy said Jagan's leadership is needed in the state for the effective implementation of the welfare schemes launched by late Rajasekhara Reddy.

"Rajasekhara Reddy was known for his credibility. He would always keep his word. Jagan is also like that. He should be the head of the state for better implementation of the welfare schemes initiated by Rajasekhara Reddy," Srinivasa Reddy said.
