The Uttarakhand government has handed over the security of state Secretariat, Raj Bhavan and High Court to paramilitary forces due to threat perception during the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Haridwar.
While the security of Raj Bhavan and Secretariat has been given to Special Service Bureau, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police would guard the Uttarakhand High Court, official sources said today.
The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting a few days back in the wake of intelligence reports that terrorists might enter the state in the garb of pilgrims during the ongoing Mahakumbh.
The Mela that began on January 14, would conclude in April, when the security of these installations would be given back to the state police.
