State-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) Ahmedabad Asset will modernise its 33 installations in the state with a proposed investment of Rs1,000 crore, ONGC Ahmedabad Asset executive director Anil Johri said in Ahmedabad today.

"We have undertaken modernisation of our installations comprising group gathering stations for centralised collection of gas, gas compression plant and collection stations so as to make these assets sustainable for next 20 years," Anil Johri told PTI.

The modernisation of these installations is being done at a cost of Rs1,000 crore in the next three to four years. As part of this plan ONGC has placed orders for five effluent treatment plants, and proposed to dig nine hi-tech wells, he said.

Of which, four hi-tech wells are being dug this year and another five shall be dug up next year. Under this technology, the wells are dug up horizontally and at times at a steep angle as cost saving measures, Johri said.

The assets installations are spread across four districts of the state like Gandhinagar, Part of Mehsana, Kheda and Ahmedabad.

"We shall also be replacing the network of 4,200km old pipelines in the Asset with modern ones in a phased manner, out of which replacement of 1,000km of pipeline shall be taken up initially," he added.

Projects on modernisation of assets to the tune of Rs500 crore are underway, besides those covered under strengthening of installations, Johri said.

The average daily oil production of Ahmedabad Asset of ONGC has shot up by 68 tonnes per day, and it has produced close of 25,550 tonnes of oil above the allocated target, he said.

"The average per day oil production this year stood at 4,567 tonnes, which is higher by 68 tonnes of average daily production than last year. Last year the average daily production stood at 4,449 tonnes, Johri said.

"The increase in oil production this year reflects that the usual annual dip of 400 tonnes per annum in production levels has been arrested of ageing wells, and we managed to produce oil above it," he said.

"During the drilling of ten exploratory wells this year we found leads for two new oil pool discovery in Mandali lowers and Nardipur low," Johri said.

The Asset drilled 71 wells this year comprising 10 exploratory wells against the allocated target of 57.

In FY-2009-2010 Ahmedabad Asset produced 1.667 million metric tonnes (MMT) of oil against allocated target of 1.657 MMT, which is higher as compared to last year oil production of 1.642 MMT.

The asset owns 22 fields, and has 1,771 wells out of which 1,373 are oil wells, 44 gas wells, 285 water injected wells and 69 effluent disposal wells.
