Now Mahila Congress wants one-third reservation in government jobs

In a memorandum submitted to party chief Sonia Gandhi, the All India Mahila Congress said necessary directions should be given to the UPA government to introduce this new bill.

After the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha, Women's wing of Congress now wants one-third reservation for the fairer sex in all central government jobs.
           
In a memorandum submitted to party chief Sonia Gandhi, the All India Mahila Congress (AIMC) said necessary directions should be given to the UPA government to introduce the bill for 33% women reservation in central government jobs.
           
"This law will help... empower Indian women socially, economically and politically," Prabha Thakur, president of AIMC, said.
           
In the memorandum, they also asked Gandhi to set into motion a similar Bill in all Congress-ruled states.
           
A delegation of the AIMC met Gandhi at her residence and submitted the memorandum while thanking her for getting the Bill for reserving 33% seats for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies passed by the Rajya Sabha.
