In an attempt to break Goa's image as a 'fenny' destination, the state government will be introducing exotic vegetables and fruits on state's coastal belt, frequented by tourists.

"These carts will run on solar energy. We are introducing this concept for the first time in India," corporation chairman Sankulp Amonkar told Press Trust of India.
The corporation will rope in locals as a franchisee for this endeavour in almost all the beaches.
"We already have procured one such cart which is functional on experimental basis in Panaji. Once we are happy with its performance, rest of the carts would be purchased," Amonkar said adding the carts would be introduced this year end.
The corporation has decided to provide exotic vegetables and fruits at a cheaper rate on these carts, which will cater to the tourists.
Corporation managing director Oralando Rodrigues said that they will be monitoring the prices.
"They will be cheaper than those sold in the market," he said expecting that the sale of the products on these carts would boom during the tourism season.
Rodrigues said the solar carts are equipped with the facility to dip the temperature of the storing facility by 20%, increasing the shelf life of the high-value vegetables and fruits.
The officials said these fruits would be purchased from Mumbai. "Approximately six tonnes of fruits would be sold through these carts daily," Rodrigues said.
