No public vehicle in Tripura transport strike

The police said no untoward incident took place in any part of the state following the transport strike called jointly by Tripura Motor Shramik Union (TMSU) and Tripura Auto-Rickshaw Workers Union (TAWU).

Vehicular movement in Tripura came to a halt today in response to 24-hour transport strike called to protest the hike in the prices of petroleum products.

The police said no untoward incident took place in any part of the state following the transport strike called jointly by Tripura Motor Shramik Union (TMSU) and Tripura Auto-Rickshaw Workers Union (TAWU).

Official sources said, attendances at civil secretariat in Agartala and government offices were affected as most people could not catch vehicles to reach office.

Most of the Catholic Missionary-run English medium schools had declared holiday today because they were not interested to
run buses.

Ruling CPI(M) has supported the transport strike.
