Chief minister, Nitish Kumar today promised filtered potable water to Khaira and adjoining villages in Munger district.
"All hand pumps will be equipped with filters to discharge fluoride free water," he told a public meeting at Khaira village in Munger district.
The chief minister expressed sympathy to the people suffering from diseases caused by fluoride-laced water and directed the principal secretary (health) CK Mishra to distribute health cards to the residents for their regular health check up.
Kumar further directed the district administration to provide medical treatment to the afflicted people, besides nutritious meal to them.
The chief minister also announced a fluoride discharge plant at Khaira village at the cost of Rs32.30 crore and another solar energy-based plant for supply of clean drinking water to the villages from Khagarpur lake.
Kumar, visiting Munger district during his fifth-leg of the ongoing 'Vishwas Yatra' reviewed implementation of development works and social welfare measures with the district officials.
