Nithari killings: Koli argues case himself, questions DySP

Surendra Koli, prime accused in the Nithari serial killings, has argued his case personally and cross-examined former DySP Dinesh Yadav, who deposed as a prosecution witness in the murder of Chhoti Payal.

Earlier, the DySp, deposing as a prosecution witness in the CBI court has said that bones and skeletons were recovered from a drain behind businessman Moninder Singh Pandher's bungalow in Nithari under his supervision in 2006.

Koli, who was brought to the court from the Dasna jail yesterday, asked Yadav about a dozen questions related to the case. Koli had earlier accused his lawyer of not arguing his case well enough alleging that this had led to him being awarded death sentence and so had requested CBI Judge S Lal to argue his case himself.

Koli alleged that he was "falsely" implicated in the case relating to the killing of Chhoti Payal in order to save his employer Pandher.

Choti Payal was one of the victims in the gruesome Nithari killings in Noida, which had made headlines across the country in 2006.

The court fixed April 30 as the next date for hearing.
