If you feel that the dried up lake near Sarkhej Roza has taken away the beauty of the place, here is some good news for you. The lake is likely to be brimming with water with the arrival of the monsoon next year, restoring the glory of the monument.

"We had requested the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) to build a pipeline to bring water to the lake. They accepted our request and the work is already on for the same," said Bhavna Ramrakhiani, advisor of Sarkhej Roza committee.

She added that natural rain water will flow down to the lake and fill it up. Moreover, there is an existing pipeline connecting the Singoda pond in Sarkhej village and the lake. The Singoda pond is a natural water body in the neighbourhood.

"Earlier when Singoda pond overflowed during the monsoon, the connecting pipeline brought the extra water to the lake. However, with the coming up of the SG Highway, the natural flow stopped and as a result the lake dried up," Ramrakhiani said.

"The development authority is also constructing a rain water drainage pipeline to take the rain water from Bopal and surrounding areas to the lake," she said.  In addition, the Sarkhej Roza committee has been training local women in embroidery. "The idea is to set up craft, souvenir and food stalls in the campus. This will be on the lines of Delhi Haat in the national capital," the advisor said.

The work for the same should have started sometime back, however, owing to lack of
funds it got delayed. But it will begin soon.
