A court here today asked an official of the Crime Branch of Delhi police to personally appear in order to inform it about the progress made in the probe into the unsolved murder case of fashion designer Mona Suri.

Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Naveen Arora asked the Investigating Officer (IO) of the anti-homicide cell of the Crime Branch to appear on December 19 and provide details of the probe conducted so far into the case.

The investigation was transferred to the Crime Branch on September 24 after the police informed the Delhi High Court that no breakthrough has been achieved.

The ACMM, who started hearing the matter afresh on November 26, had asked police to file the probe report today.

Suri, 35, was burnt alive allegedly by two persons who poured kerosene on her outside her residence at Greater Kailash area here on August 12, 2007.

The fashion designer succumbed to her injuries on October 21, 2007. However, the police could neither arrest the assailants nor establish the motive behind the murder.

Police, who were asked to intimate the court about the progress in the probe, have been seeking time for concluding the investigation.

Four persons, including Naveen Suri, husband of the victim, his girlfriend Rachna and Rajiv Sharma, have already undergone narco-analysis tests in the case and reports were awaited, they had said.

Earlier, Manjeet Bawa, the father of Mona Suri, had sought speedy investigation into the case.

Bawa said the probe into the case has not been completed and the delay in getting the narco-tests done will prolong the proceedings.
