Companies sponsoring television reality shows should beware of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) if the show has a Pakistani actor or singer.

Following the detention of Pakistani singer and a judge Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on a reality music show on the charge of carrying undisclosed foreign currency in New Delhi, the MNS has once again issued its anti-Pakistani artistes warnings.

This time, the party has warned all the sponsor companies to make it sure that their sponsored programmes do not have Pakistani artistes.

“If they sponsor a show which has a Pakistani artiste on its cast, we will not allow these companies to sell their products. And when we say we will not allow them to do business, we do not mean a boycott. It will be an MNS-style agitation,” said Ameya Khopkar, president, Maharashtra Navnirman Cine Workers’ Association.

MNS has been constantly agitating against the inclusion of Pakistani artistes in reality shows on television or in movies. “Don’t we have artistes in India? Why do we have to import people from Pakistan? At least consider the emotions of those who died in the terrorist attacks,” said Khopkar.

The party, on Monday, visited Mumbai police commissioner Sanjeev Dayal demanding strict action against foreign artistes who work in India without a work permit. “Most of these foreign artistes come here on a tourist visa. We want the police to take strict action against them,” he added.

Shiv Sena has also been against the inclusion of Pakistani actors in Indian television shows. The party was vehemently against the inclusion of two Pakistani actors in reality show Bigg Boss 4. It carried a violent agitation for over a week, but failed to get their demand accepted.
