Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and apprised her of the financial problems being faced by the state.
Lal Thanhawla informed Gandhi that he had already discussed the financial crunch faced by Mizoram with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and the UPA Chairperson assured him that she would pursue the matter, an official statement said.
Gandhi accepted the chief minister's invitation to attend a function to be organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the Mizoram government in Delhi to commemorate the 25th year of the Mizo peace accord, the statement added.
