Militant arrested with arms in Manipur

A prominent militant of the banned People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was arrested by Manipur police commandos during a search in interior Thoubal district early today.

Official sources said H Binod Singh was nabbed from the Phumlen Pat area in the district as part of an operation to make preventive arrests ahead of the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations.

Three rocket launchers, several rounds of ammunition of different arms and other weapons were seized from him, the sources said adding the militant was being interrogated at the local police station.

Sources said random searches would be conducted in different parts of the distrtict, infested by militants, over the next few days.
