A medical technician of the emergency response service 108 was manhandled by four people on Thursday late night.

The incident happened when the technician along with ambulance allegedly got delayed in attending a call.

As soon as the ambulance reached the spot, the technician was allegedly thrashed by the people who had called them. According to Shahibaug police station, Janak Patel, a medical technician and resident of Madhavpur Police line was on duty when he was assigned to fetch an injured man lying on the footpath near Haripura bus stand.

In his complaint, Patel stated that because of construction work in the area, there was heavy traffic and as a result he got delayed. However, when he reached the spot, he inspected the injured man and asked for help.

But four people who had called the service beat him instead.

Patel told police that he found a man who was severely injured. When he asked the four people who were sitting beside the man to help the injured to the ambulance, they started abusing him.
Further, when Patel asked the injured man of his belongings, he said that his bag was missing. "When I inquired about the injured man's bag the four men in the age group of 22 to 25 years hit me," Patel said in his complaint.

Shahibaug police have registered a case against four unidentified people.
