Suspected Maoists shot dead three CPI(M) workers at Sebaytan village in Midnapore West district in the small hours today.
 
The three -- Bijay Mahto, Manik Mahto, Brihaspati Mahto -- were called out from their homes in the village under Jhargram police station at about 1.30 am and gunned down, police said.
 
The bodies were found this morning in front of a college with a note that the three were given the "extreme punishment by people's verdict" as they were 'police informers', they said.
 
In another incident, the Maoists blew up an office of the forest department at Jhitka in Lalgarh area using a landmine.
