Man, wife and their three children commit suicide in Allahabad

A man, his wife and their three children allegedly committed suicide in the district today by jumping in front of a train, police said. The incident took place early this morning in Garetha village, around 50 km from the city, police said.

Police said 29-year-old Ram Gopal Prajapati, his 27-year-old wife Sheela and their three children aged between 3-9 years, died in the incident.

Police suspect that ill-treatment by extended family members was the reason behind the incident and alleged that Prajapati's father and brother set the bodies afloat in the Yamuna without cremating them.

An FIR has been lodged in this connection and a search was on for Prajapati's father and brother.
