Man held for raping, killing minor

A labourer has been arrested for allegedly raping and killing a three-year-old girl in the Pratap Nagar locality in Jaipur, the police said today.

Rajesh, who was arrested yesterday, had first allegedly attempted to rape his three-and-half-year-old daughter in an inebriated state. After he failed in his attempt, he attacked the victim on July 17 and allegedly killed the girl after raping her.

Her body was recovered from an under-construction building in Pratap Nagar area the next morning. The police, in their investigation, zeroed in on Rajesh following his suspicious activities. He was then detained and during interrogation, Rajesh confessed to the crime, they said.

He was produced before a local court today which remanded him in police custody till tomorrow, the police said.

The victim's parents, hailing from West Bengal, are also labourers and reside in the same locality.
