Man commits suicide in police lock up in Kutch

The incident took place early this morning when Ramesh Baria, 25, arrested on charges of motorcycle theft from Panchmahal district, hung himself in the toilet of the lock up.

A man accused of theft allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself while he was in the lock up of the Bhuj city police station today.

The incident took place early this morning when Ramesh Baria, 25, arrested on charges of motorcycle theft from Panchmahal district, hung himself in the toilet of the lock up, police said.

According to police, Baria, a native of Devgadh Baria taluka of Panchmahal, was wanted in theft cases of over 15 motorcycles.

He was arrested and brought to Bhuj police station two days ago, they said, adding that reasons behind his suicide were not known.

A case has been registered and further investigation was on, police said.
