With RSS leader Swami Aseemanand confessing his and the outfit’s role in the Malegaon blast before a metropolitan magistrate in Delhi, Congress general secretary Digvjay Singh said on Thursday it was high time the Muslim accused in the case got relief.

“It is for the investigating agencies to take the necessary steps, but this is a logical step,” Singh said.

Digvijay Singh, who has been in the centre of controversies involving the RSS and its alleged involvements in acts of terror, also attacked the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for the alleged presence of ‘radicals’ in the Sangh.

“He says that there is no place for radicals in the organisation. Then why did he fail to inform the security agencies of their presence then and why does not he identify the ones present in the RSS now,” he said.

In line with the Congress policy of refusing to associate a colour with terror, Singh said, “Saffron is the colour of valour and sacrifice. The RSS and its members have nothing to do with the pure ideals of Hindu religion.”
