There’s no full stop in the Chand Mohammad-Fiza tale. Passion, separation and reconciliation — the love story between former deputy chief minister of Haryana and then advocate to the state government already had all the ingredients of a Bollywood blockbuster.

For those who thought the masala was still missing, here’s another dash of drama. On Tuesday evening, Chand, who was known as Chandra Mohan before he converted to Islam in order to marry Fiza, was allegedly severely beaten up by his own family members for reconciling with Fiza.

Fiza, meanwhile, is currently out of India, shooting for a reality show, a perk of her recently-found fame thanks to her whirlwind romance with Chand and it isn’t yet clear if she is aware of the latest development.

According to sources, the reconciliation is the reason why Chand was beaten up severely at his house in Panchkula. “Chand has been beaten up by his family members. He was taken to Arora hospital in Hissar by his mother, before shifting him to Apollo on Wednesday morning,” said a source.

Chand has been admitted to the ICU Emergency ward of Apollo, indicating severe injuries. Guarding the ICU are policemen from both Haryana and Delhi police, who have refused access to media. “Chand was brought in a very bad condition this [Wednesday] morning. He has a broken leg, and a displaced hip,” said a doctor at Apollo. “Looks like he has been beaten up severely.”

Under pressure from Chand’s family, the Apollo staff is keeping the matter quiet. “We have been briefed not to allow anybody inside the emergency ward,” said a guard. No FIR or complaint has been lodged yet, a logical situation since the family is reportedly involved. “No complaint has come to us till now. We’re not aware of the situation,” Panchkula SP Sandeep Khirwar said.
