Left parties urge steps for halting price rise

The coordination committee of Bihar unit of the CPI, CPI-M, RSP and Forward Bloc today held a joint convention and called for immediate steps for reducing skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.

In resolutions adopted at the convention, the four parties held the central and state governments responsible for the price rise and demanded arrest of the blakmarketeers.

The convention called for inclusion of pulses, foodgrains and other essential items in the consumption list of BPL and APL ration card holders.

The left leaders also demanded immediate steps for finding a lasting solution to the floods and drought in Bihar, besides making available compensation to the farmers for the damages caused to their standing crops and launching a scheme for 'Work for Food' apart from effectively implementing the NREGA.
    
They alleged gross irregularities and corruption in execution of NREGA in Bihar and pressed for remedial measures and ensuring supply of foodgrains and kerosene to disabled persons free of cost.
