Jalandhar: The "Great Khali", a star wrestler of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and an assistant sub inspector with Punjab Police, was today suspended by the force for going on "unauthorised" leave.

Khali was on leave till December last year and after that had applied for five years' leave in the category of extra ordinary leave, to which he was not entitled and accordingly he has been suspended from his duty, Arunpal Singh, Commandant of 7th Batallion of Punjab Armed Police (PAP), where Khali was posted, told PTI.

"As per the rule, Dalip Singh Rana (Khali) was not entitled to any further leave and there was no option other than to suspend him", Singh added. The World Heavyweight Champion made his WWE debut in April 2006.

After making news in WWE fights, he ventured into Hollywood as well. His first film was "The Longest Yard" released in 2005 and the other was "Get Smart" in 2008. Khali has also been looking forward to working in some Bollywood films.
