Jammu and Kashmir police recovers EPI card from arrested Lashker Commander

Investigation has been initiated to inquire how the Electoral Photo Identity Card was issued to the militant.

An Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) was recovered from the possession of arrested Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) self-styled area commander in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

"We have recovered an EPI card from the arrested self styled commander issued by a tehsildar", Superintendent of Police (SP), Kishtwar, Dr Haseeb Moghal said.

Police and security forces on Friday arrested LeT area commander Mohammad Shafi Shah alias Pathan of village Seer in Anantnag during an encounter in Patnazi area of Kishtwar district. He is the oldest surviving militant, who joined militancy in 1990.

Investigation has been initiated to inquire how the EPIC was issued to the militant, he said.
