Criticising the Omar Abdullah government for its "failure" to act against separatist leaders, the Jammu and Kashmir BJP unit today appealed to president Pratibha Patil and governor NN Vohra to take note of developments in the state which is "being turned into a hotbed of conspiracies against the country".

"The incompetence of the state government has assumed alarming proportions so much so that certain elements have openly come out in support of terrorism," leader of the BJP legislature party Chaman Lal Gupta told reporters here.

He said the hartal called by separatist leaders in Kashmir yesterday and statements like those of PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti are quite significant in this regard in the wake of conviction of some militants by a Delhi court.

"The separatists and semi-separatists have been indulging in voices challenging the very unity of the country since long, but the failure of the government authorities to act under the law of the land have encouraged these elements to the extent that they have now begun openly to denounce the verdict of the court," he alleged.

Gupta alleged that there was a calculated design on the part of many Kashmiri leaders to malign the security forces by raising the bogey of Human Rights violation.

"We would like the governor as also the president to take note of the latest developments in Kashmir, which is being turned into hotbed of conspiracies", he said.
