Ellisbridge police obtained the custody of Yasin Pathan, the alleged serial-killer of the city, in connection with the murders of his girlfriend Reshma and another man at Lakadia Bridge.

Since his arrest earlier this month, Pathan had been in the custody of crime branch but was handed over to the Ellisbridge police on a transfer warrant on Saturday.

Yasin Pathan alias Sendo alias Lambu, 28, had allegedly murdered Reshma about 18 months ago after she had reportedly left him for another man.

Similarly, Pathan had strangulated another victim to death on the Lakadia bridge even last month. Ellisbridge police had registered a non-cognisable offense against Pathan in this connection.

However, the police received the post-mortem report of the victim a day before crime branch had arrested the alleged psycho-killer on March 4.

Ellisbridge police inspector (PI) BK Purohit said that the autopsy report of the Lakadia bridge victim has revealed that he was murdered on February 11. According to Purohit, the autopsy report states that the victim was a 50-year-old man who was strangulated to death with a muffler he was wearing.

The report also states that the words 'Ramnik Chandu' was written on the victim's left hand and that there was an Om sign on the fist of his right hand," he said.

Pathan, a drug addict, had confessed during his interrogation that he had killed the person for paltry sum of money which the victim was counting as he was walking on the bridge.

"Following the findings of the post-mortem report, we have registered a case of murder against Pathan and want to question him. So, we have sought his custody," the police inspector added.

For the record, the alleged serial killer had confessed to have murdered six people. Five out of them were killed for frugal amount of money to satisfy his drug habit.
