J&K govt planning modern ambulances for district hospitals

Jammu and Kashmir government is contemplating providing critical care ambulances with modern gadgets to all district hospitals in a phased manner, minister for health Sham Lal Sharma said today.
    
A sum of Rs7 crore have been kept for purchase of such ambulances during the current fiscal, Sharma told the Legislative Council in reply to a question by T S Wazir (NC).   

The minister said that it is a fact that critical care ambulances equipped with modern gadgets are not available with any of the district hospitals.

He, however, said that ambulances equipped with oxygen and intravenous infusion facility during transportation are available with district hospitals. Sharma said ambulances provided to sub-district hospitals and Primary Health Centres
are equipped with basic facilities.
    
The minister said that CT-Scan facilities would also be provided to all districts in a phased manner.
    
He said only those cases are being referred to the Medical College Hospitals, which require specialists and diagnostic interventions. Sharma also said that all the ICU beds in Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu are equipped with ventilators and monitors.
    
Replying to another question by Nurboo Gialchan, the minister said that 29 Indian System of Medicine (ISM) doctors have been engaged under Rural Health Mission in Leh district.

He said that all the vacant posts of doctors, including those in Leh district, have been referred to Public Service Commission and same shall be filled as soon as the select list is received.

In reply to another question by Amrit Malhotra, the minister informed the House that the Health Department has sealed 11 unauthorised clinical establishments in Jammu division and 22 establishments in the Kashmir division.
    
Sharma said so far, 1533 applications have been received from various persons for registration of Nursing Homes and Clinical Labs. Of these, 1277 registrations have been made, while 223 cases are under process and 33 applications were
rejected, he added.
