Ishrat-SIT gears up to submit final report to Gujarat High Court

HC has given October 5 deadline; team chairman in city, putting report together.

The SIT probing the Ishrat Jahan encounter case is gearing up to submit the final report to Gujarat High Court soon. All the three members of the SIT have been working rigorously for the past three days to see that the final report is ready to be submitted by October 5 as asked by the HC.

The SIT chairman, RR Verma, is in the city and he is recording the statements of witnesses. Verma is also meeting the officers who had conducted the investigation.

A team inspected the Indica car allegedly used by Ishrat and others when they were killed in the encounter at Kotarpur on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. The car is in the custody of the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB).

According to sources, the police needed to check some details about the vehicle as per the forensic reports. Sources said that a team visited the DCB and again checked the vehicle. 

Sources also said that the police teams investigating the case are busy submitting their individual reports to the SIT chairman.

Verma is also checking the details of different forensic reports submitted to the SIT.  Over last three days, Verma has conducted several meetings with the two other members of the SIT -   Satish Verma and Mohan Jha.

The team had also recorded the statement of Gopinath Pillai, the father of Javed Pillai killed in the encounter.
