Is second hooch tragedy brewing in West Ahmedabad?

The city police were on their toes when another person died allegedly by consuming spurious liquor, this time in Satellite, on Monday.

Vardhaji Rathod, a resident of Ramdevnagar in Satellite was admitted to VS Hospital early on Tuesday morning and he also succumbed, allegedly to the fatal drink. Meanwhile, another person from the same area has been admitted to VS, purportedly after imbibing the spurious alcohol.

The police began to conduct raids in Satellite, when it was found that two people were admitted to VS Hospital after consuming spurious liquor.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector 1, Satish Sharma told DNA that so far the exact reason of the death is not known, but, “we don’t want to take any chance and are searching the liquor dens in the area.”

Sharma also said that the police were waiting for the blood report of the Forensic Science Laboratory to know whether the victim Ramesh Parmar, who died on Monday, had consumed spurious liquor or not.

Nanne Dantani, another suspected victim of the latest hooch tragedy, has been admitted to the same hospital. So far no arrest has been made in the case.
