Incessant rain brings down day temperature in Delhi

The weather department has predicted that more rain will follow over the next 24 hours, and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 20 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively.

Incessant rain drenched the city for the second successive day today considerably bringing down the day temperature which was six degrees below normal for this time of the year.

The city received a total of 11.6 mm of rains since yesterday till 5:30 pm today, a Met official said.

The minimum for the day was recorded at 14.6 degree, which is a good four degrees above normal for this time of the season while the maximum temperature was recorded at 18.1 degrees against yesterday's 22.2 degrees.

The maximum temperature was six degrees below normal for this time of the year, the Met office said.

Yesterday, an overcast sky in the morning had led to an increase in the minimum temperature which had settled at 14.7 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal.

The first week of February saw the temperatures rise well above normal levels, but a spell of rain early last week saw temperature dipping.

According to MeT statistics, the record for the highest maximum for the month of February was 34.1 deg C -- on the 26th of this month in 2006. The record minimum is 1.6 deg C on 9th February, 1982.
